Hello all,
I figured it was time for an update....
Cartoon Frolics will be attending
MegaConvention 2003 at the end
of Feburary. We will be in the Small Press Alley and selling issues 1-3
of Totems, original artwork from those issues along with original
artwork that didn't sell on
eBay.
Currently there are no plans to go to San Diego this year because we're
switching gears from Comic Books to Screenplays.
For those who have been bidding on artwork Paul is
continuing posting original artwork on eBay, as long as his PS2 fetish
doesn't get the better of him first. For someone who works on the greens
at a Golf Course it's odd his favorite game is Tiger Woods 2002.
Currently there are no plans for commisions.
Currently we are working on a few screenplay ideas,
if and when anything happens we'll post any new news here.

Hello all,
More
pictures
have been posted from
SDCC.
First and formost I've updated our
Cafepress.com storefront for our
Official San Diego 2002
Design, everything Cafepress.com offers (except the posters) are
available to the public. A few people at the con and elsewhere have
commented on the shirt and liked it.
After two days at the con we decided to forgo the
DC Portfolio Check. The
Dark Horse Portfolio Check
went well in my eyes, Paul's expectations were a little higher, the good
news is eyebrows were raised when he mentioned all the pages were inked
in
Photoshop. Our plan at this point
is to come home, finish the
She-Hulk
pages completely and sent out packets to everyone showing them what we
can do.
No
Marvel
Comics Booth this year, sure they had a small table for signings but
not the giant pavillion that DC,
Crossgen
and Dark Horse had. To me this makes makes no sense since
Sony's Booth is six to seven
playstations lined up for people to play. You'd think with Spiderman,
X-Men 2, The Hulk and Daredevil in the pipe they'd be tooting their
horns.....unless next year will be a big blow out. If so, rock on. We'll
be calling Marvel to show them our stuff once it's done, this is not a
sales pitch for the
She-Hulk
plot this is just to show publishers what we can do.
We took a
look aroundthe con
floor Friday. I have to say the new
Robotech,
The Thing and Lord of the Rings games look pretty cool. Paul decided to
pick up a Ring Wraith Statue which appears to still be at the loading
dock and may or may not be at his house by the time we get home. I found
out the hard way the flash is not good for interior shots hence some
reshoots of the full figured Ring Wraith and it's horse. One or two of
those Veritech shots did not get the "do not photograph" signs on the
glass.
We decided to go see
Signs
and both must say this movie was awesome go see it, M Night S. just
keeps getting better and better. The critics are really trashing this
movie, I think they expected something else and got a good thoughtful
movie instead of....well....an ID4 clone. The Horton Plaza UA Movie
theater looks great on the inside and then you sit down in the theater
itself.....someone needs to learn the words "Stadium Seating with comfy
chairs". The Theater was a step up from the NH one we saw Tomb Raider
at. It's funny to think Providence Place Mall has a better movie theater
than Horton's Plaza.
We journeyed back to
Kansas City
Barbeque to get a shot of the picture Paul did last year which is
now as
you can see
sitting behind the bar. I've also moved all the Top Gun Pictures into
their own Gallery.
We then traveled out to Qualcomm Stadium to the
Padre's Game Friday
night.
Or at least we
tried too.
We started off at the trolley station about five
feet from our hotel and then traveled down to Old Town. People got off,
all the people in car; either going to the airport or the game waited
and waited and waited, the doors
closed....................................and the trolley went into
reverse..................it
was a great moment when the entire car went "oh shit."
We got off and waited for the next trolley, the next
trolley bound for Old Town came in we were all reluctant, got on and
20ft from the platform a clear announcement was made the trolley had a
mechanical. We got off......on the wrong side of the platform and saw
the next trolley to Qualcomm Stadium coming in.......on the other side
of the platform, most people paniced then we saw the button that opens
the doors of the dead trolley we were just on, we hopped through the
dead one, past the transit cops and onward to the game!
The game itself was great, we stayed till the end of
the 6th then beat a hasty retreat to the hotel. It'll be nice by 2004
when the Stadium is right next to the con, exit the con and goto a game.
The next day we then went to the
San Diego Zoo.
It's a big place with lots of animals.....a lot of
depressed looking animals. The trolley ride around the park is ok, the
aerial lift was cool but short. In the end walking around is best, with
good shoes, sunblock and water that doesn't taste like clorine. The
Gorillas were the only ones who "seemed" to be enjoying themselves. The
Polar Bears (yeh Polar Bears in California....the mind boggles) or the
one happy polar bear seemed very happy with his frozen snow ball of
blueberries and then took a dip into the pool. The expression on the
crowds faces when the Polor Bear dove down to the very bottom and then
floated all the way to the surface was priceless.
The Tigers....were.....well being Tigers, enjoying
the shade till about 7pm when they probably woke up. One tiger was awake
for lunch....at the very top of the enclosure when no one could see him
clearly....errrs.
The lines for the Panda showing was just....mind
boggling. We did see a Red Panda....and then it saw us coming and left.
But the one up in the tree was nice enough to stare at us until I could
get a good shot.
We then returned to the hotel and went to
lunch/dinner at
Fat
Buger. The
resturant is part
of Horton's Plaza Complex near our Hotel. Friends of our from Rah-CoCo
Comics and Collectables advised going for the burgers, Paul's king sized
was great, my chili dog was also wonderful.
And now I sit here typing this and Paul snores away
at 8:37am PST The con starts in 2hours, I think the waffles are calling
me....
Finally, last but not least: Congrats to my bro for
getting a car of his own, looks like it got it's first test run to NH
and survived.
More pictures soon,

Hello all,
Well
San Diego
Comic Con 2002 is now here.
It started off quite well, we left Providence on
Southwest flew to Phoenix then to San Diego. We arrived early at San
Diego went to the hotel. We walked down to the Convention Center found
the line for the Professional Badges Line, then told to go back to the
outside of the Con to wait to come back up to sighn in. Everyone leaves,
we look around, come back to the line ask the people in charge we find
out we are in the right place and become the first in line. Course the
original first person in line was none too pleased. Somewhere there is a
violin screaming.
We went to the Kansas City BarBQ aka Top Gun Bar and
planned out our day. We found out that Paul's Illo he did last year from
the bar is now above the cash register. A picture of that will be forth
coming.
Currently right now Paul is planning on attending
the DC and Dark Horse Portfolio Check along with swinging by Crossgen
and Dreamwave Studios Tables to see what people have to say.
I have updated
Paul's Gallery
Page to include the Marvel and DC Inked pages he was sent. Also the
first four pages of She Hulk issue has been posted too.
We have yet to get
the Official Cartoon
Frolics San Diego Con 2002 Shirts at the hotel, once they arrive
we'll be wearing them to the con. Once the con is over the
Cafepress.com default prices on the
shirts will be raised so if you like the shirt, clock or mouse pad:
Buy'em!
We continue to get some feedback from the pictures
Paul has done and so far everything has been positive. One of the emails
was about getting commision images. Paul has stated that once Summer has
passed and Con Season is over he will begin to take commision orders.
